How do Flex files work on a file portal?
Flex reads come to your portal like any other file. How customers send them, what your tuner gets, and who can open a locked Flex file.
In short
A Flex read uploads on your portal and lands on one job in your queue. A locked Flex file is not decrypted in the portal: it is kept as it came, and your tuner opens it in their own Flex master tool.
What is Flex?
Flex is Magic Motorsport's programming tool. It reads and writes ECUs over OBD, on the bench and in boot mode, and it is sold in master and slave versions. Shops choose it for the same reasons they choose any tool: which cars they see most, and which master they send their files to.
How does a Flex customer send a file?
They sign in on your portal, upload the read, and choose the work on one page. The portal looks for the ECU and its numbers in the file and fills in what it finds. The job lands in your queue with everything else, sorted by what was paid for.
- 1Express and Urgent firstJobs paid for speed sit at the top with their turnaround target.
- 2Find any jobBy number plate, job number, VIN, name or email; filtered by status, payment and priority.
- 3The car, the ECU and the workEvery row carries what the portal read from the file and what was ordered.
- 4Where every job standsPending, processing, waiting for payment, done: counted as they move.
A sample shop; your portal carries your name.
Can the portal open a locked Flex file?
No, and it is better to be plain about that. Decrypting inside the portal is for Alientech and AutoTuner, and only for their master. A locked Flex file is kept exactly as it came. Your tuner downloads it, opens it in your own Flex master tool, does the work, and uploads the result to the same job.
The customer sees none of that. They uploaded a file, they were told when it was ready, and they downloaded the tuned file from the same place.
What do you still get on a Flex job?
Everything that is not about opening the file. The order on one page, payment first if you ask for it, the queue, the conversation on the job, corrections on the same job, the certificate and dyno sheet in your brand, and an invoice in your name.
Questions
Does a Flex customer see anything different?
No. They use the same order page as every other customer.
Can a Flex file go back to the customer?
Yes. Your tuner uploads the tuned file to the job, and the customer downloads it when you deliver.
Can I run Flex and KESS3 customers on one portal?
Yes. Every tool comes to the same portal and the same queue.
