Can a file portal still take KESS V2 files?
Customers with an older KESS V2 still upload to the same portal as everyone else. How the files arrive, and what a master on Alientech can decrypt.
In short
Yes. A KESS V2 read uploads like any other file and lands on a job in your queue. If you are an Alientech master, a locked file is decrypted on your own account, and goes back ready for the customer's tool.
Why do KESS V2 files still matter?
KESS V2 is the Alientech OBD tool that came before KESS3, and plenty of workshops still use it for the cars it covers. If you run a file service, some of your customers will keep sending from it long after newer tools arrive. Turning those customers away, or giving them a different way to send files, is work nobody needs.
How does a KESS V2 customer send a file?
The same way as everyone else. They sign in on your portal and upload the read. The car, the ECU and the numbers are filled in from the file where the file says them, and they choose the work on the same page. Your tuner sees a job in the queue that looks like any other job.

What about locked files from a KESS V2 slave?
Those belong to the slave's master. If that is you, and you connect your own Alientech account in your portal's settings, a locked file opens on the job and goes back encrypted for the customer's tool once it is tuned.
If it is not you, the file stays locked. The portal keeps it as it came, and only its own master can open it. That is how the tools are built, and no portal changes it.
What should you tell a customer who is moving to KESS3?
That nothing changes on your side. Their sign-in, their credits, their past jobs and their way of ordering all stay as they are. Files from the new tool simply arrive alongside the old ones, and the job history keeps both.
Questions
Do older files need a different upload page?
No. There is one order page, whatever the tool.
Can my tuner see which tool a file came from?
Yes. The customer picks the tool on the order page, and it stays on the job.
Will the portal read the ECU from a KESS V2 file?
It reads what the file says. When the file does not say enough, the customer fills in the rest on the same page.
